Dr. Brittany Schamerhorn, ND is one of the founding doctors of Okanagan Women’s Clinic and Menopause Society Certified Practioner (previously NAMS). She has a passion for supporting women with their health and hormones. Helping them go from tired, stressed, and feeling victim to their hormones to energized, balanced, and in control.
From addressing concerns such as PMS, PCOS, and endometriosis to providing support during fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause, she aims to help women to feel vibrant, resilient, and energized throughout every phase and transition of life.
She works hard to provide realistic, comprehensive and evidence-based care for her patients so that they feel listened to and respected. She believes that through education doctors can play an important role in supporting and empowering patients to achieve their health goals. During an appointment, she will listen to your unique story and conduct a thorough health history, a focused physical exam and laboratory testing (if necessary). She will then recommend an individual treatment plan that may include a combination of pharmaceutical drugs, herbs, acupuncture, diet and lifestyle counseling, and nutritional supplementation.
She obtained her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (now CCNM-Boucher) where she obtained the clinical excellence award upon graduation. Dr. Schamerhorn is a member of The Menopause Society (previously North American Menopause Society - NAMS) and is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). As an educator, she provides talks to both the public and other healthcare professionals. She educates clinicians regularly and was previously an instructor at the Naturopathic Medical School in Vancouver. She has completed multiple additional trainings focusing in both general health and women’s health, including training in hormone therapy and lactation/breastfeeding.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Schamerhorn can be found adventuring outside with her young family. She can usually be found with a coffee in hand and too many books on the go. After growing up in Kelowna she is excited to be practicing and supporting the Okanagan community.
